okay, i'm interested in what everybody thinks on this.
i believe that for the most parts all religions start off with a good motive, i.e., to provide a forum that will help people to serve god.
(basically).

this week, my wife called me an "opposing husband" - because i stopped believing that jehovah chose the watchtower society as his sole channel on earth.. .
my wife knows about the society, it's flip-flop on doctrines, child sex abuse scandals, including the un, but none of that matters.. .
she doesn't read the litertaure, not even the bible.. .
{{{Truth}}
Bad news; She is going through a Organization condoning and inspired self righteous stage. Some never progress beyond it and remain self righteous dubs all their life.
Good news; She doesn't seem to be following the pattern they usually do. She has allowed herself to become informed so she may also be in that anxiety prodicing state of cognitive dissonence we all know so much about. She is stepping out so to speak meeting "worldly" people.
As a woman I could be swayed to adopt a new lifestyle if it were appealing enough to me to leave behind the current social structure. Do you have a Harley? Entice her with offers to start a ballroom dance class or somethnig you have ever heard her talk about maybe trying. Put your thinking cap on and note them down. We all leave a trail of jelly beans on our path through the dark woods.
Good Luck,
Kate
my wife and i have been married for 8 years and we have 2 boys (8 and 3).
we are both unbaptized publishers and a few weeks ago she told me that she couldn't me married to me anymore and that she wanted her freedom and independence.
now we are pretty much separated and she has been pushing for divorce, she stays and home about 2 nights a week and the other nights she stays somewhere and doesn't tell me where.
Keep in mind, ttc, the conversations are not over. I don't think she's figured that out yet. There's custody to consider, visitation, raising the boys, dozens and dozens of things to talk through.
This is so true. Whatever happens from here on out you must focus on being her friend for the childrens sake.
Also I don't think she is having an affair. If she were I don't think her mother would be supporting her in the divorce. It may be that she does not feel safe emotionaly with you and the trust is gone. Sometimes when we are active in the organization and making more meetings than our spouse we can get a bit self righteous and judgemental without realizing it.
Welcome to the forum. Sorry for the pain you are going through. Hope you get the support system you need right now. There are many kind people here that can relate to your pain.

the more i think about the dubs claiming they 'have the truth', the more it irritates me.
there are countless other religions who claim they 'have the truth'.
first of all, "having" "the truth" implies that the truth was either given to them or discovered by them.
OOoooh the looks people used to give me when we first started dating.
You could tell they were thinking "You sick, dirty, old man".
LOL you robbed the cradle eh? I'm not sure what people really think when they see us, niether of us could give a rats a** anyway. We have an awesome marriage and it took me years to find such a gentle hearted man that was more than capable. In fact I had given up on even looking for 5 years before we met. He is more of a man that any man I've ever met. He does things that continue to amaze me.
He is finishing up a 14x14 custom room on the house. He did everything all by himself. People come in and wonder how in the heck he got the drywall up on the vaulted ceiling. He has a surgery room table he was given from a job once and he uses it for moving lots of stuff. He uses leverage in many ways. He's a stud.

I'm 5' 7" People stare sometimes because it seems to be more socially acceptable for the man to be taller. So I guess that makes an 8 inch difference for us, and 14 for you. Does it ever get in your way? It doesn't us but sometimes when we are holding hands it is an uncomfortable angle.

I believe that being very short (I'm barely 5'0") and looking very young for my age all my life has caused me to have to be "feisty"
You are so beautiful! You have that innocent look that drives men wild. My husband is barely 4' 11" so you are tall to him. I'm not tellin him about you because he gets hot for shorter ladies although he denies it.

So what??!!! It doesn't mean a damn thing.
No of course not, not to you but for me it is. We all have to find our own truth after the Borg because that defines are reality.
LDB I agree with you there! I wish I had a voice like hers back when I needed it. As a child I just absorbed Watchtower drivel as truth. I was 32 by the time I found my voice and defied an elders wife.

"the truth" as spoken by the Watchtower is just a fragment of their cult lingo. One earmark of a cult is that they create thier own lingo that no one uses but them. "The truth" for them is a statement of exclusivity and ownership thus our frustration in hearing it.
The reality of my experience with the Bible is that Jesus is the truth, that the entire Bible from cover to cover is about him. The OT prepares for his coming, the NT reveals and documents His arival.
Of course that is putting it in simplistic terms but I follow a simple truth. ~Kate

Welcome to the Forum Jehovah Saves!
You sure have resurected an old thread here!
You quoted a Scripture without any commentary. The NWT does make it sound like an invisable "active force" yet the way I understand it the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God dwelling in me. It is a gift when we are ready to receive Jesus humbly as innocent little children. (John 3)
John 14:23 Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. WEB
So for me the actual presence of God dwells within me. It is not an active force.
It is a gift when one believes in Jesus. John 3:15 that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
My faith in Jesus defines who I am as a believer.
I wear the Star of David that has a dove in it and below that I wear a cross. In answer to your question it is not a piece of jewelry but a constant reminder of the depth of my relationship with God. I am thankful that I live in a country that I can wear them freely.
As a child I was afraid of the cross. My aunt sent me a beautiful gold one and I was told to break it if possible, destroy it and throw it away. We were in the heighth of demon paranoia back then. I never thanked her. I should do it now, better late than never. It's been 37 years.
